Wrapping up the weekend

I hope my fellow Americans had a lovely double holiday weekend: Juneteenth on Friday and Father’s Day on Sunday.

I decided to combine all my projects under a single domain for financially sustainable reasons. It’s getting to be a hassle having so many different domains, even though I know that’s been the trend for many years. But when have I ever consciously followed a trend? Bah.

Plus it was about time for me to move on from the Writeropolis brand. I feel that I was probably aiming too high. So, I’m planning to keep it cute with Melted Ink.

I named it after “I Melt with You” by Modern English. My commute home from work is brutal, so there’s nothing to do but hope no Vegas driver hits me, my thoughts, and whatever I have loaded on my playlist. I thought “Melted” rolled off the tongue a lot better than “Writeropolis.”

I don’t regret trying to aim for the sky, because then I wouldn’t have known what I was capable of as a web developer. But it’s time to quit splitting parts of my soul like a horcrux.

I’m enjoying this WP theme by the Automattic team. It truly feels like I’m writing in a diary, although my cursive handwriting is nothing like this!

I always tell people when they ask if I can read and write in cursive, and I say: “I print my cursive.” Then I watch gleefully as they attempt to wrap their heads around that idea. Get your joy where you can!

My little lady Luna is sleeping quite heavily after our evening walk and her gorging on dinner. She’s flinching in her dreams like she’s running. I love how dogs do that! It’s like, “what are you dreaming of, little sweetheart? Can I join you?”

Anyway, I’m nearly done porting over the content between two databases and then I’ll have Amoroso sorted out. I was an idiot and didn’t export the WordPress file from Girl in the Dirty Shirt like I should have. I spent a good chunk of my weekend trying to get the collective back online. I had a good rhythm going, and as of tonight, I have two sites left. I probably could have finished but my brain is mush.

I’ve been saying that a lot since I started my new job. It’s true; I’ve consumed so much training. Customer service is customer service, no matter where you go.

But I’m not giving up on writing. Hence, this longggg entry. Writing is my first love and I’ll never let anyone take that away from me.

Good luck with that!
